The Gravity of Tears

The Gravity of Tears

You know I miss you till it aches
I kiss ashes in a jar
I touch the pillow where you slept
And wonder where you are

Because you are so much more
Than flesh and blood and bone
The sacred spark that gave them life
Must have another home

Do you see me as I weep
Do you feel pain I feel
Or are you in a better place
Life’s dream no longer real

You’ll live forever in my heart
Though broken it will mend
Stitched together with the hope
That true love never ends

Time can be a comfort now
In healing I must do
But seconds seem like years today
Slow motion thoughts of you

When I look into the yard
I see you running there
Strong and brave and beautiful
I say a silent prayer

 If I calculate our bond
I can’t just count the years
But I can weigh my emptiness
In gravity of tears

We know there is a final act
We’ll stand before death’s door
Is there a better exit line:
“I could not have loved you more.”
