“It’s an exciting time for authors, publishers, musicians and visual artists. Thanks to the ubiquity of various tablet devices, book is being redefined. It is no longer a static medium.
“Of course, you can overdo it and some authors and publishers do just that. Part of good art is not only knowing what to put in, but also where to put it and when to leave it out.
“To me, the most obvious types of multimedia books are children’s books and self-help books. Children’s books are obvious–kids are unafraid of technology and love to touch the screen. Self-help books are great because you can embed a short video in the tablet version of the book, and provide a link next to the video to download (for all your mobile devices) the FULL seminar on that topic for $29.99, or whatever price you choose. In essence, the book IS the store.
“It’s a brave new world out there. If you know what you’re doing, you can make it work for you. If you don’t, you’re just going to pour money down the drain creating great-looking, but unsuccessful products.”
Stephen is involved with several authors, musicians, filmmakers, illustrators and painters overseeing numerous projects.
